David Byers Metz ’54
David Byers Metz ’54 passed away on February 8 in Chappaqua, New York. Dave came to Dartmouth from New Britain, Connecticut. He attended the Loomis School. After attending Dartmouth he served in the U.S. Army, serving as an officer in Korea and Japan. He then returned to Dartmouth, graduating from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration. An early job selling advertising at Reader’s Digest hooked him on the power of magazines and the fun of opening new territory. Following stints at startups and New Times and Classic magazines, he joined McGraw-Hill and created a network of trade magazines. In 1990 Dave left McGraw-Hill to form Media Marketing Associates, a professional management network of 175 trade magazines offered to advertisers. He is survived by his wife, Betsey, and children Harry, Andy, Stephen and Alden.
