Donald Philip Moore ’52

Donald Philip Moore ’52 passed away on May 12, 2017. He was a resident of Daytona Beach, Florida. Don was born on April 29, 1930, and graduated from Shady Side Academy in his hometown of Pittsburgh in 1948. He graduated from Dartmouth in 1953 in the combined 3/2 Tuck M.B.A. program. At Dartmouth he was advertising manager for the college radio station, WDBS. Don was also an NROTC student and, following graduation, immediately went on active duty as a U.S. Navy officer. He served as a gunnery officer aboard the heavy cruiser USS Columbus in the Atlantic and Mediterranean until he left the Navy in 1955. He then returned to Pittsburgh and joined accounting firm, Price, Waterhouse as a certified public accountant. Don and Margaret Pattison, also from Pittsburgh, married in 1958 and had one son. In 1964 he moved to Rye, New York, and joined ITT Continental Baking Co., serving in a variety of financial assignments until he retired in 1993. Don was an active member of the Rotary Club in Pittsburgh and Rye. Following retirement, Don and Margaret moved to Florida, first to Ormond Beach and then to Daytona Beach. Don is survived by Margaret, son Donald and three grandchildren.
