Warren Robert Foley ’52

Warren Robert Foley ’52 passed away peacefully at home in Enfield, New Hampshire, on March 2. Bob was born on April 6, 1930, in Old Lyme, Connecticut, and he graduated from the Bulkeley High School in New London, Connecticut. At Dartmouth Bob was a history major and a member of Phi Sigma Kappa and the Dartmouth Outing Club. He went on to earn his master’s from Boston College. Bob spent a short tour in the Army in the early 1950s and, upon his discharge, he joined Kimball Union Academy (KUA) in Meriden, New Hampshire. He held various responsibilities at KUA, including teaching, which he loved, coaching and serving as alumni director. He and Nancy Hopkins were married in 1960. She predeceased him in January 2010. After some two decades at KUA, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for a number of years, retiring in 1992. He then served various duties in Enfield, including being the supervisor of the voting checklist. He also had many outdoor activities that he enjoyed, but his favorite pastime was taking his boat out for a cruise on Crystal Lake. Bob and Nancy had three children, Michael (a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and career Marine Corps officer), Maureen (graduate of the University of Vermont) and Patrick. Patrick passed away from leukemia in 1999 at the age of 31. Bob is survived by his two children, grandchildren and brother Ronald. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, John.
