Richard Risley Finlay ’59

Richard Risley Finlay ’59 died on October 25, 2017. He came to Dartmouth from the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Massachusetts, majored in geology and was a member Chi Phi. Following brief stints with the Army and as a trainee with a bank in Boston, Dick moved to Dallas to work in the financial industry and eventually became a real estate consultant and investor specializing in acquiring, renovating and leasing commercial properties in the Southwest. He was an avid traveler and photographer and was particularly active with the Confrerie des Chevalier du Tastevin. He was also a trustee of the Winston School in Dallas. Charlotte, his wife of almost 50 years, died about five years before Dick’s death. He is survived by their daughter, Laura, and twin sons, Richard and Charles (and Charles’ wife, Melinda), five grandchildren and Dick’s companion, Barbara.
