Edward Henshaw Hobbie ’54

Edward Henshaw Hobbie ’54 passed away on November 21, 2017, in Amherst, Massachusetts. Ed came to Dartmouth from Deerfield, Massachusetts, and Phillips Academy. At Dartmouth he was a Spanish major and a brother of Phi Sigma Kappa. Ed was a member of the Dartmouth Outing Club, Bait & Bullet and the Rifle Club. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Division (Green Berets). He was discharged as a captain. Ed then was employed by the state of Massachusetts in various administrative capacities until he retired in 2000. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying local hunting and fishing pursuits. Ed was dedicated to marksmanship. He was adept at competitive skeet shooting, sporting clays and upland hunting. Ed’s wife, Sheila, predeceased him. He is survived by daughters Rachel, Heather and Margaret.
