Maureen Ellinwood Pluvinage ’03

Maureen Ellinwood Pluvinage ’03 died on September 25, 2017, in Zurich, Switzerland, from injuries sustained in a cycling accident. She was surrounded by her family and husband Mathieu Pluvinage, Tu’13. Maureen was born on February 8, 1981, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Oak Knoll School in Summit, New Jersey, in 1999 and arrived in Hanover that fall. At Dartmouth Maureen was a four-year member of the women’s swimming and diving team and received the Geer Award for Team Motivation in 2001. As a senior captain she played a pivotal role in getting the team reinstated in the face of athletic department budget challenges. Maureen was also a committed scholar, majoring in government and engineering, and led a full social life as a member of Alpha Xi Delta, Abaris and the Panhellenic Council. She went on to obtain an M.B.A. from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, in 2011. She was an active alumna, recruiting, fundraising and nurturing the deep friendships she formed at all three schools. Maureen and Mathieu met in 2014 on a Dartmouth ski trip in Switzerland and married on May 20, 2017, in Biarritz, France. Professionally, Maureen worked in various finance functions during her 14-year career. Most recently she was employed as a vice president at UBS in Zurich. Her family and friends celebrated Maureen—a loving wife, expectant mother, daughter, sister and friend—at a memorial service in Zurich on September 28 and funeral Mass in Short Hills, New Jersey, on October 7.
