Robert N. Andrews ’57
Robert N. Andrews ’57 of West Hartford, Connecticut, died on August 19, 2017, after a long battle with lung disease. Bob attended the Loomis School, participated in the Dartmouth ski patrol, was a member of Psi Upsilon and received his M.B.A. from Tuck School. After service in the Army, he returned to Connecticut and joined the Travelers Insurance Co. for a career that spanned 35 years. Field assignments involved job transfers to five different cities and then to the home office in Hartford, Connecticut. He was head of the commercial casualty operation in the south central region. His company insured large manufacturers, cities and contractors. In several other regional assignments, Bob traveled to almost every state, seeing many Dartmouth friends along the way. During the last few years he was administrative officer for the Travelers investment businesses, which involved him in human resources and compensation. Bob was a volunteer in West Hartford Youth football and for the Dartmouth Alumni Fund and consulted on employee personnel and benefits for the local United Way. Bob loved the outdoors. During his working years he and his wife, Sue, went on annual skiing trips out West in the winter and for 11 years to the Appalachian Mountain Club Camp on Mount Desert Island, Maine. His first major project after retiring was to purchase a rustic lakefront property in the Berkshires with 200 feet of shoreline and lots of privacy. He leaves Sue, a son and a daughter and six grandchildren.
