Albert L. Katz Jr. ’51

Albert L. Katz Jr. ’51 died on August 23, 2017, in Warminster, Pennsylvania, where he and his wife, Jean, had been living in a retirement community. In addition to Jean, he is survived by three children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Al came to Dartmouth from Germantown Academy in Philadelphia. As an undergraduate he was active with the Dartmouth radio station and Green Book and as a member of the freshman tennis team. He spent his senior year at the Tuck School. He served for two years after graduation in the U.S. Army as an enlisted man, stationed in Germany. Al spent 20 years with the Goodall Rubber Co., headquartered in Aston, Pennsylvania, progressing through senior sales positions before becoming the company’s president. He then had a second career as a senior vice president with Cenlar Federal Savings Bank in Ewing Township, New Jersey. After retirement from active management he remained for 10 years a member of Cenlar’s board of directors and head of its audit committee. Bridge was Al’s passion throughout much of his life. In retirement he often played four to five times per week. He was also active in the Trenton, New Jersey, Rotary Club, was president and a board member of the Trenton Club and contributed to the Morrisville Presbyterian Church as an elder and youth club leader.
