Bernard T. “Ted” Lane ’62 died in Salinas, California, on December 14, 2016. He was diagnosed with myelofibrosis, a rare disease without cure, in 2005. Ted lived in Prunedale, California, with his wife of 18 years, Irene, who survives him. He is also survived by children Ed, Beth, Sherrisa, Kim, Jackie, Ken, Jason, Jamieko and Jeff; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Ted came to Hanover from Xenia, Ohio. After graduating from Dartmouth with his degree in English, he settled in California, where he began his work in psycho-cybernetics and a career in door-to-door sales for Encyclopedia Britannica. Later he worked with Success Motivation Institute and began his entrepreneurial work. He became a personal coach using systems he developed in time management, goal setting, accelerated learning systems and patternology, or helping break the patterns in lives that were making people suffer. Through this work Ted met Irene, along with some of his closest friends. He loved reading, traveling, playing poker and chess, enjoying time with family, watching sports and laughing with family and friends.
