Richard K. Norris ’57

Richard K. Norris ’57 died on August 12, 2016, at the Inn at Fairfield in Hudson, New Hampshire. He suffered from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Dick and his wife, Celia, had been living summers in Maine and winters in Florida. Dick grew up in Massachusetts and came to Dartmouth in 1953 from Vermont Academy. At Dartmouth he majored in zoology and belonged to Alpha Delta Phi. He went on to earn an M.B.A. from Suffolk University. Following three years in the U.S. Navy, Dick had a varied career. He ran sales operations for a family-owned business, served as chief financial officer for Kunzell Music Co. and was a financial analyst for the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. Dick lived most of his life in Massachusetts, although he and Celia moved to Peaks Island in Maine when he retired. They converted their summer home into a full-time residence. Dick enjoyed fishing, boating photography, traveling, the theater and classical music and served as a volunteer treasurer of a local food co-op. When Celia retired, they bought a home in Boca Raton, Florida. Dick is survived by Celia, four daughters, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
