Alan Averill Terrill ’54
Alan Averill Terrill ’54 passed away on April 11 in Hillsboro, Oregon. “Lefty” came to Dartmouth from Ansonia, Connecticut, where he attended Ansonia High School. At Dartmouth he was a brother of Kappa Kappa Kappa and graduated from Thayer School. After graduation he entered the Naval officer candidate school and was commissioned in the Civil Engineer Corps, serving for three years in the Seabees. After discharge he moved to Boise, Idaho, where he worked for Morrison-Knudsen on various construction projects throughout the West. In 1968 he joined MacGregor Triangle Co. as construction engineer. He served as vice president and general manager of a subsidiary company, MacGregor Utility Constructors Inc., which built highways, water systems, sewers and treatment plants. In 1985 he went to work for Idaho Sand and Gravel, retiring in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Sally, and daughters, Susan, Sarah and Quita.
