Donald F. Page ’47

Donald F. Page ’47 of East Greenbush, New York, died May 19 in Albany Memorial Hospital. Don was born and raised in Hanover, where his father, Frederick Page, class of 1913, was a professor. His college years were interrupted by service as an Army sergeant during World War II. He returned to Dartmouth, where he was a chemistry major, competed on the ski team and was a member of the DOC, Glee Club, Heorot and the Marching Band. He earned his master’s in chemistry from Dartmouth and his Ph.D. in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He then worked for 37 years as a research chemist for Sterling Winthrop Research Institute, retiring in 1988. Don was an avid skier and served since 1955 on the National Ski Patrol, where he filled many leadership roles and received several awards, including induction into its hall of fame. He also volunteered and taught first aid for the American Red Cross. Don served his class as secretary from 1999 until his death. Don is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eleanor, sister Priscilla, sister-in-law Jean and her children, David and Jill.
