Rollin Frey Haynes ’54

Rollin Frey Haynes ’54 passed away on August 12, 2016, in Brunswick, Maine. Rollie came to Dartmouth from Melrose, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Melrose High School. At Dartmouth he was a brother of Chi Phi. After graduation he served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command, earning two flying ratings while on active duty. Upon discharge he returned to Hanover to earn his M.B.A. from Tuck in 1958. After working for IBM in computer sales, he settled in Maine in 1962, living in Cape Elizabeth, Brewer and then Brunswick. Rollie worked for Dead River Co. for 20 years in Bangor and Portland before retiring as vice president in 1994. He was previously employed as a vice president and director at Hannaford Bros. Co. in South Portland. Rollie served as a trustee and director at several institutions and corporations, including Eastern Maine Healthcare, the Greater Bangor Chamber of Commerce and Merrill Trust Co. After retirement he spent winters in Naples, Florida. Rollie is survived by his wife, Carolyn, son Jeffrey and daughters Kimberly and Julia.
