Class Note 2007
When I think back to finals period during freshmen winter, I can’t recall what classes I took or how many all-nighters I pulled. What I do remember (in addition to the historically low temperatures) is that a new website—an online student directory at only a few elite colleges—spread like wildfire across campus. “Thefacebook,” as it was known then, became the go-to site for procrastination while we were stalking others and obsessing about information on our own profiles.
Not much has changed. Only now instead of just listing your favorite movies, music and books, you can instantly update friends about your daily activities, upload photos using your phone, and promote an event and manage invitations without much effort. Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with classmates and, as you’ll see below, it is a platform to celebrate and share both the big and little events that make life interesting.
Rachel Karpf: “Tripped over my sneakers walking from gym, looked up to see Fran Lebowitz standing, smoking, staring. She arched an eyebrow and inhaled.” (April 26 at 9:53 p.m.)
Shreya Patel added Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health ’12 to education. (April 26 at 7:56 p.m.)
Lisa Caldeira added Associação Reconstruindo a Esperança to her work (April 26 at 3:31 a.m.)
Rictrell Pirtle: “Let us not forget who owns the throne! You do, mommy!” (April 26 at 1:55 p.m. via iPhone.)
Honoria Tsang: “One Love” (April 25 at 11:07 a.m.)
Caitlin Wong: “I admit today I kind of wanted to jump right into the Easter egg hunt fray instead of being a grownup and helping out the little ones. Sigh.” (April 24 at 8:13 p.m.)
Jarrett Cato: “And I’m off to the Diddy Dirty Money after party!” (April 22 at 10:16 p.m.)
Derrick T. Smith: “My work day is over! Lady Gaga in two hours! Semi Precious Weapons is opening! Take that!” (April 22 at 3:06 p.m. via BlackBerry.)
Dax Tejera added Spanish to his languages. (April 19 at 4:54 a.m.)
Debra Liu: “Almost in Maui!” (April 15 at 5:40 a.m. via Mobile Web.)

Caroline Barker: “Just booked flight to Peru. T minus three weeks. Wooo. Please send any tips my way!” (March 29 at 7:03 p.m. via BlackBerry.)
Gwen Rudie: “Passed my candidacy exam! Feeling great!” (March 17 at 2:37 p.m. via iPhone.)
