William H. Edgar ’62
William H. Edgar ’62 of Palm Desert, California, died on June 17 in Santa Barbara, California, of pancreatic cancer. Bill came to Dartmouth from Winchester (Massachusetts) High School and Hebron Academy. At Dartmouth he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and Sphinx and was a goalie on the varsity hockey team. He served two years as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army. In 1969 he received his M.B.A from Northeastern University. Bill served as a sales and marketing executive with companies that included Xerox, Heublein and Irish Distillers International from 1965 until he started his own marketing consultancy in 1993. He retired to Santa Barbara in 2000, when he indulged his interests in the Boston Red Sox and Bruins, liberal politics, guitar playing, current events and writing letters to The New York Times, several of which were published. He volunteered with the Braille Institute recording for the blind and dyslexic and with the death with dignity movement (Compassion and Choices). He is survived by his former wife, Linda, sister Carolyn, sons Russell and Randy and four grandchildren.
