David Lee Heine ’59

David Lee Heine ’59 died on March 8. He entered Dartmouth from Malverne (New York) High School, was a member of Alpha Theta and worked for The Dartmouth, serving as a sports editor during his senior year. He was in the 3-2 program with Tuck School and received his M.B.A. in 1960. Following graduation he served as a lieutenant in the Army. Dave had a career in healthcare, first in Central and South America (where he became fluent in Spanish) and then as a marketing executive in the home offices of Johnson & Johnson and two other international companies. In 1982 he founded Health Force, a home healthcare staffing agency, in the Orlando, Florida, area. He sold Health Force in 1992 and then retired. During retirement he earned a master’s in liberal studies from Rollins College, participated in the Stephen Ministries of the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando and served the Alzheimer’s Association both locally and, for seven years, as a national board member. He was active in Dartmouth alumni affairs, interviewing applicants, serving as an Alumni Fund agent and participating in the Alumni Club of Central Florida, which he served as president and treasurer. He also became an avid deep-sea fisherman and a dedicated cyclist. Dave leaves his wife of 27 years, Jo Ann, daughters Cathryn and Marisa, stepsons Mark, Kent and Stephen and 13 grandchildren. His brother, Joel, predeceased him.
