John L. Kelley ’47

John L. Kelley ’47 died June 14 at home in Winchester, Massachusetts. He was born February 6, 1927, in Lewiston, Maine, where he grew up and graduated from Lewiston High School. He qualified for the Navy V-12 program and came to Dartmouth in 1944. In college he played in the band and graduated with a B.S. in navigational science, including a year at Thayer School. He continued his studies and earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maine in 1949. He accepted employment with Westinghouse Electrical Corp., for whom he worked for more than 40 years as a sales engineer in Worcester, Massachusetts. His hobby was magic, and he performed often. He enjoyed golf with his friends at the Westborough Country Club into his mid-80s. He is survived by three daughters.
