Walter I. Francis ’47

Walter I. Francis ’47 of Spartanburg, North Carolina, died May 13. He grew up in Hopedale, Massachusetts, where he attended General Draper High School. He qualified for the V-12 program and was assigned to Dartmouth. After naval service he attended the University of North Carolina and graduated in 1947 with a degree in economics. He later earned an M.A. from Boston University. As of our 25th reunion in 1962, he was the manager of the North American Rockwell International Draper Division in Hopedale. He served as an admissions volunteer and interviewer from 1988 to 1991. He is survived by his wife and seven children.
