Gary Weltner ’65
Gary Weltner ’65 passed away on November 21, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara, son Morgan and daughters Katherine and Meredith. Gary had been in ill health for some time, his son Morgan reports. He had a 20-year career with Roosevelt and Cross, the New York municipal bond house, and had many friends there. Gary was forced into early retirement by heart problems. He married Barbara and moved to Point Pleasant on the New Jersey shore. He loved fishing and golf at the Manasquan River Golf Club. About 20 years ago he and Barbara moved to Palm Beach, Florida. Gary took up croquet with a passion, becoming a semi-pro. As president of the U.S. Croquet Association he was instantly recognizable, chomping a cigar he never smoked and sporting a ponytail and cap. Morgan remembers the good times with his father, and says, “We feel like we had him for longer that we could have expected.”
