Nathan K. Parker Jr. ’52

Nathan K. Parker Jr. ’52 of Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 12. Nate was born on May 23, 1930, in Pittsburgh and graduated from Phillips Andover Academy in 1948. At Dartmouth Nate graduated cum laude as part of the Tuck-Thayer program and was a member of Chi Phi and played football and squash. He received a law degree from the University of Michigan and practiced law in Pittsburgh for nine years. He then joined his father’s company, Kay Richards & Co., which later merged with McKelvey & Sons, forming Parker/Hunter Inc., whose board he chaired. Nate eventually left Parker/Hunter to pursue other business interests and entrepreneurial opportunities that landed him in the role of founder, CEO and chairman of the board of the Daniels Group Inc. and ownership of other commercial properties. Nate maintained an active interest in community activities and numerous philanthropic endeavors and was a member of various social organizations in the Pittsburgh area. Nate was also an active Dartmouth alumnus. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; children Cynthia, Nathan and Keith; stepchildren Julia, Phillip, Matthew and Andrew; nine grandchildren; and brother Charles ’60. Nate’s father was a distinguished member of the class of 1926. Nate’s first wife and mother of his three children, Janice Parker, passed away in 1991.
