Alfred E. Davidson III ’51
Alfred E. Davidson III ’51 of Barrington, Illinois, died on February 10 after a long battle with muscular dystrophy. His wife, Ellie, died in 2015 and a son also predeceased him. Surviving are three children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ted lived most of his life in north suburban Chicago. He spent his entire working career with Patent Scaffold Co., founded by his grandfather, where he served as operations manager. In retirement he and Ellie lived in Florida before returning to a continuing care community in Barrington. He was a dedicated volunteer for organizations serving the needs of youth, among them the Wilmette Teen Center, where he was a longtime board member and treasurer. He was recognized by New Trier Township for his work with youth. He and Ellie were also very active in their church. At Dartmouth Ted was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and the Dartmouth Players. He earned an M.B.A. from the Tuck School. Ted’s father was a member of Dartmouth’s class of 1922.
