Edward W. Nelson ’57

Edward W. Nelson ’57 died October 22, 2015, at his home in New London, New Hampshire, after a battle of several years with lymphoma. Ed came to Dartmouth from Montclair (New Jersey) High School, where he played varsity football. At Dartmouth he majored in geology. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi and Sphinx and sang in the Glee Club. After graduation Ed worked for a year as a geologist and then served two years in the U.S. Air Force. The remainder of his career was spent teaching secondary school math and coaching football, track and golf in high schools in New Jersey and Connecticut. He retired early to New London to play golf and travel in the Northeast and Florida. He served as an Alumni Fund volunteer and class agent for several years. Ed is survived by Linda, his wife of 58 years, two sons and a daughter.
