Donald Charles Berwick ’54
Donald Charles Berwick ’54 passed away on February 24, 2015, at the James Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He came to Dartmouth from West Lebanon, New Hampshire. Don graduated from Kimball Union Academy. After spending a year at Tuck School he entered the Army, spending two years in Germany. After being discharged in 1956 he joined the family trucking business, Berwick and Sons. In 1965 he became president of the company. In 1967 Don formed B&S Leasing, also serving as president. In 1998 he retired, moving to Florida but still maintaining a residence in Enfield, New Hampshire. After moving to Florida he worked for the law firm of Melkus, Fleming and Gutierrez, doing library research on railway law. Since 1964 Don was heavily involved with the Shriners. He served as general chairman, president and board member of the annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl football game and parade, which is played in Hanover. Don was a highly successful fundraiser for the Shriners Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, sons Donald and John and daughter Deborah.
