Daryl O’Brien Palmer ’77

Daryl O’Brien Palmer ’77 passed away October 21, 2015, in Montvale, New Jersey. Raised in Morris Township, she graduated from Morristown High School and matriculated at Dartmouth in September 1973. While at Dartmouth she was a founding member of the first women’s a cappella group, the Distractions. She majored in English, graduated in three years, finished Dartmouth Medical School and did her pediatric residency at Duke University Medical Center. After working at Metropolitan Hospital in New York City, Daryl joined Broadway Pediatric Associates in Westwood, New Jersey, where she practiced for 25 years until just recently. Active in the Montvale community, Daryl was an avid volleyball fan and supporter for the Pascack Hills High School and Skidmore College teams, where two of her daughters played. Daryl loved the Jersey shore and was a lifetime summer resident of Ocean Grove, New Jersey. Daryl is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughters Corinne, Meredith, Jessica (and her husband Chris); brothers Steven ’80, Glenn and Carl; and parents William and Helen. In addition to her brother, Steven, family members at Dartmouth include uncles Vincent ’51 and Donald ’56 Marriott and cousins Vincent III ’79, Chris ’82, Michael ’84, Vincent IV ’13 and Dean ’18 Marriott.
