Milo Ritter White Jr. ’55
Milo Ritter White Jr. ’55, Ph.D., died in Saline, Michigan, on June 24, 2015. He attended Detroit public schools and graduated from Mercersburg Academy before entering Dartmouth. Milo majored in history and was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa, Dartmouth College Union, DOC and WDBS. He served as an enlisted man in the Army personnel division for three years. He received a master’s in history from the University of Michigan in 1959 and a Ph.D. in education in 1970. For the next 27 years he was a teacher and chairman of the social studies department and then for 13 years was principal of Pioneer High School. After a two-year hiatus Milo taught at Huron High School until his retirement in 1998, continuing as a substitute until 2007. He loved sports (Detroit Tigers) and was a long-time ticket holder for Michigan football. Milo and Sandy, his wife, traveled extensively, and he found time to be a Rotarian and active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is survived by his wife, six children and five grandchildren.
