John Campbell Richardson ’52

John Campbell Richardson ’52 was born in Yolo, California, on June 18, 1930, and passed away peacefully in Portland, Oregon, on June 17, 2015, one day before his 85th birthday. “Cam” graduated from Davis (California) Joint Union high school and from Dartmouth in 1952. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta and Casque & Gauntlet senior society. He was a government major, Rufus Choate scholar and Phi Beta Kappa member and had a distinguished record as co-editor of the Aegis yearbook, member of Green Key, the Glee Club, the Council on Student Organizations and the Injunaires singing group. Cam was also an active Dartmouth alum, serving as club officer and in several capacities as a fundraiser for the College. After Dartmouth he graduated from New York University School of Law and settled in Portland, Oregon. Whether it was leading the Davis high school football team as its quarterback (at an imposing 5-foot-3-inches), working as an estate-planning attorney at Stoel Rives law firm for more than 40 years or serving on various professional and charitable boards and committees, Cam approached every job with passion and integrity. He will be missed, and all who knew him will strive to be as kind, gentle, loyal and wickedly funny as he was. Cam was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia. Cam is survived by Susan, his wife of 35 years, four children, four stepchildren and six grandchildren.
