Colin Campbell Stewart IV ’48

Colin Campbell Stewart IV ’48 died in Aurora, Colorado, on March 6, 2015. He was born in Philadelphia and brought up in Hanover by his parents, Dr. Colin and Catherine. He was a Mayflower descendant from Richard Warren and had many other colonial ancestors. He served in the U.S. Army during and after World War II, when he was stationed in Garmisch, Germany, with the Special Services. He returned to the United States and earned an A.B. at Dartmouth, where he was a member of Dragon and Sigma Phi Epsilon and a star skier. He represented the United States in the 1948 Olympics in Saint Moritz, Switzerland, and finished seventh in the special slalom. He went on to earn a graduate degree in architecture from Harvard in 1955. He married Ann Edwards in 1957 and in 1959 they moved to Colorado, where they raised their children. Colin spent his career practicing architecture and designing private residences and public buildings throughout the state. He is survived by siblings Robert, Mary and Janet, as well as daughters Catharine, Jessie and Elizabeth, their spouses and eight grandchildren.
