George M. Swaye ’47

George M. Swaye ’47 of Boca Raton, Florida, died on March 20, 2015. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on July 1, 1925. He joined the Navy and was assigned to Dartmouth in the V-12 program. After graduation he served in Hawaii as an ensign. He then entered the family business, the S&A Department Store in Hartford, and after several years entered the real estate construction business and developed several commercial properties in the Hartford area. He retired in 1978 to devote his time to boating, a longtime dream. He cruised down the East Coast to Boca Raton and then for decades around Florida and to the Bahamas. He is survived by his wife and three sons.
