Albert C. Burbank ’47

Albert C. Burbank ’47 of Vero Beach, Florida, and Warner, New Hampshire, died in Vero Beach on April 25, 2015. He was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on December 8, 1925, and moved to Charlestown, New Hampshire, and then to Hanover, where he attended high school. He was proud of his involvement with Boy Scouts and of having attained Eagle Scout rank. He volunteered for the Navy V-5 program in the spring of 1943 and was assigned to Dartmouth in the V-12 unit before going on to preflight and flight training at St. Mary’s College in Berkeley, California. In college he played in the band and in the brass quintet at Commencement. He completed a B.S. in music at the University of New Hampshire in 1949. He taught music in Middlebury, Vermont, before going on to obtain an M.A. in music from the Cincinnati Conservatory. He was the band director in Fairview, Montana, from 1950 to 1957, before returning to teach in Waterford and Wilton, Connecticut. He received an M.A. in music education from Columbia in 1975. During summers, he built and operated a motel for 25 years in Alton Bay, New Hampshire. After retirement he spent winters in Vero Beach. He is survived by his wife, three sons and niece Lydia ’81. He was predeceased by his brother, Winsor ’45, Tu’47.
