Robert Marcus Saidel ’55

Robert Marcus Saidel ’55 died October 24, 2009, in Milan, Italy, where he had resided for many years, the College has recently learned. Bob graduated from Central High School in Manchester, New Hampshire, and at Dartmouth majored in international relations. He joined Phi Sigma Kappa and the Pre-Law Club and served as student assistant of the College’s sports information office. Bob spent his junior year abroad, attending the London School of Economics and Political Science. Upon graduation Bob spent most of his years in Europe, first in the diplomatic service, then in publishing. Though he lived in Milan and married Italian women, he spent various periods in London and Paris. He is survived by his second wife, Orwella, and son Massimo ’84.
