Neil Caldwell King ’54 passed away on December 12, 2014, in Boulder, Colorado. Neil came to Dartmouth from Boulder High School. He then attended the University of Colorado Law School, graduating in 1956. Neil practiced law for nearly 40 years, specializing in land conservation, helping to protect thousands of acres in Boulder County. He served as Boulder city attorney in the 1960s. He served as president of the Boulder County Bar Association. In 2008 the University of Colorado Law School honored Neil as Colorado’s Small Practitioner of the Year. It is said that Neil “told a good joke, mixed a good margarita, had a great tennis second serve, knocked off fine watercolors and tooled around town in classic cars.” He was an avid plane pilot, flying all over the West. Neil’s wife, Gretchen, and children Shannon, Kevin, Jeff, Ross and Neil Jr. survive him.
