William Ashton Pownall ’57

William Ashton Pownall ’57 died August 20, 2014, at his home in Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Bill prepared for Dartmouth at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio, while living in Luxembourg. At Dartmouth he was active in the Human Rights Society, intramural athletics and the radio station. Following Dartmouth Bill served in the U.S. Army and was a retired salesman for the John Wiley Co. He had lived in Springfield, Massachusetts, before moving to Wilbraham in 1999. He was an avid golfer and tennis player. Bill was predeceased by a stepson. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Annette, two stepsons, one stepdaughter, four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
