Ron “Doc” Marino ’57

Ron “Doc” Marino ’57 died in Tampa, Florida, on August 21, 2014. He suffered from numerous medical problems. Ron grew up in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and attended public schools there before heading to Dartmouth in 1953. At Dartmouth he was a premedical student and was active in Sigma Nu and the Barbary Coast big band dance band. Following his graduation from Dartmouth Ron graduated as valedictorian of his class at the Chicago College of Podiatric Medicine. He spent 15 years practicing podiatry in Denton, Texas. In 1974 he moved his family to Tampa and retired from podiatry there in 2000. Ron was passionate about music and animal care causes. In Tampa he played in a brass quintet and a symphony orchestra. He also was a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ band. Finally, he enjoyed tennis, racquetball, reading, and his pets. He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and Pittsburg Pirates. Ron leaves his wife, Beverly, a daughter and two grandsons.
