Donald Wray Jones ’43

Donald Wray Jones ’43 died August 27, 2014, in Evergreen, Colorado. Don grew up in Denver and graduated from East Denver High School, where he was on the student council, a member of the National Honor Society, choir and debating club. At Dartmouth he majored in English and was a member of Green Key, Cabin & Trail and president of the Glee Club. He spent the war years in the Navy. In 1946 Don went to work for Pitney Bowes Inc., where he spent his entire career in the sales department. In retirement Don and his wife, Susan, loved to travel and particularly liked Elderhostel programs—“We have been awed by the talents and credentials of the instructors and of the participants,” to quote Don. As in college days, he continued to be challenged by unexplored mountain trails. In continuing support of Dartmouth, he was secretary of a Dartmouth regional club. Don was predeceased by Susan and his brother, Barton ’39. He is survived by children Eric and Deborah and six grandchildren.
