Robert E. Lee ’57

Robert E. Lee ’57 passed away on April 4, 2014. Since retiring, Bob and his family split their time between homes in Rancho Mirage, California, and Hayden Lake, Idaho. Bob came to Dartmouth from Cut Bank, Montana, and the Shattuck School. At Dartmouth he completed the Tuck-Thayer program. He was awarded the Churchill Freshman Prize and was a Daniel Webster scholar. He was active on the Undergraduate Council, Interfraternity Council, ROTC, Winter Carnival council, Dartmouth Outing Club and Zeta Psi, where he was president in his senior year. Following Dartmouth Bob received an M.S. in business administration and engineering science from the graduate school of banking at Rutgers University. Bob had a distinguished 36-year career in commercial banking with tours of duty in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Great Falls, Montana; Spokane, Washington; Des Moines, Iowa; and Denver for 22 years. He was president and CEO of Iowa-Des Moines National Bank, Old National Bank of Washington, First National Bank of Denver and First Interstate Bank. He was very active in civic affairs and professional organizations, while serving on the boards of several large companies. Bob was also active in Dartmouth club and class activities through the years. His hobbies included golf, tennis, fly-fishing and travel. He leaves his wife, Page, and children Allison, Brent and Bruce.
