Bruce Henry Hack ’57
Bruce Henry Hack ’57 died May 31, 2014, in Florida. A third-generation Dartmouth student, Bruce grew up in the shadow of the College in Norwich, Vermont. His Dartmouth education was interrupted after the first semester by two years service with the U.S. Army in Korea. Bruce then returned to Hanover and Dartmouth, where he finished his degree and also met his bride of 58 years, Nancy. He was active in the Dartmouth Outing Club and the College radio station, WDCR. Bruce worked for IBM for most of his career. He was a member of the American Legion, active in ham radio and adopted many dogs from the Humane Society. He took an early retirement from IBM and divided his time between Meredith, New Hampshire, and Cape Haze, Florida, entertaining his children and grandchildren at both places. An avid fisherman and boater, he volunteered his time and expertise at the Lakes Region Conservation Trust and the Hubbard Beach Association. For several years he ran the Ledges Motel in Norwich with Nancy. Bruce was active in alumni affairs and served several terms as president of the regional Dartmouth club. In Return to the Source, our 50th reunion book, Bruce wrote, “So far it has been a perfect life.” He is survived by his wife, three children and six grandchildren.
