John Howard Johnson ’55
John Howard Johnson ’55 passed away on December 18, 2013, in Conway, Michigan. He was born in Alexandria, Egypt, but was raised in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Oil City High School. After attending Dartmouth John graduated from Allegheny College in 1956. After military service he joined General Motors. After several years he bought a motor lodge in Conway and successfully ran it for 15 years. When he left the motel business John turned to real estate, where he excelled and was named Realtor of the Year 2013 after 20 years service with Coldwell-Banker. A Rotarian, John was especially involved in Project Hope, visiting Haiti on two occasions. He was active locally, serving on several boards and as deacon of the Presbyterian Church. John is survived by his wife, Mary “Betsy,” three children and several grandchildren. A memorial service was held in late January.
