William Kilbourne Davis ’52
William Kilbourne Davis ’52 of Middleton Township, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2013. He and his wife, Ursula “Olie,” recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Bill was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and graduated from Milford (Connecticut) High School. He majored in architecture at Dartmouth and received a master’s in regional planning from the University of North Carolina in 1957. At Dartmouth he was a member of Gamma Delta Chi and the band. During the Korean War Bill served as an officer in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer USS Albany. He was executive director of the Delaware County planning commission from 1960 to 1966, vice president of the planning and systems division at Roy F. Weston Inc. and vice president of BCM’s Eastern group, from which he retired in 1990. Davis was active in Delaware County, serving on its planning commission (1976-95) and the Middletown planning commission (1976-82) and zoning board (1994-2005). In 1977 he served on the advisory group created by U.S. Rep. Bob Edgar to resolve the controversy surrounding the construction of the Blue Route, now known as I-476. Bill was a member of Media (Pennsylvania) Rotary and was its president from 2001 to 2002. In addition to Olie, Bill is survived by children Helen ’79 and William and five grandchildren. His father, George Davis, was Dartmouth ’19.
