Katharine Zaleski ’03 is the new executive producer and head of digital news products at The Washington Post. Zaleski, who was previously senior news editor of The Huffington Post, has also been named to Washington Life Magazine’s “Power List 2010: NextGen Media Personalities.”

Deirdre Daly ’81 has been named deputy U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut, the office’s second-ranked position, by district U.S. attorney David Fein ’82. Daly had been at Daly & Pavlis LLC, a Southport, Connecticut-based law firm since 1997, and before that served for 12 years as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York.

Gordon Russell ’55 of Portola Valley, California, has received a Lifetime of Achievement Award given by the nonprofit senior services agency Avenidas to senior citizens who have made a difference in their communities. Russell, formerly a general partner at the venture capital firm Sequoia Capital, founded the Sun Valley Writers Conference and is a trustee of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Woods Hole Research Center.

Jeff Davidoff ’85 has been named chief marketing officer of ONE, a global anti-poverty advocacy group based in Washington, D.C. Davidoff had previously been chief marketing officer for Orbitz Worldwide.

Thomas Fisher ’96, M.D., an assistant professor who practices emergency medicine at the University of Chicago, has been named a 2010-11 White House Fellow. Fisher studies the roles of race, socio-cultural structures and stereotyping in racial disparities in health and healthcare. He will take part in an education program designed to broaden his knowledge of leadership and policy formulation and participate in service projects throughout the year in the Washington, D.C., area.

Sean Furey ’04 of San Diego, California, is the U.S. men’s javelin champion. He captured the title late last month at the Outdoor Track & Field Championships when his 262-foot heave outdistanced the field.
