Edward Rector Hibben ’52

Edward Rector Hibben ’52 died peacefully on August 29, 2013, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, one day shy of his 83rd birthday. Born August 30, 1930, in Chicago, Ed prepared for college at the Harvard School for Boys in Chicago. He and his brother George ’52 entered Dartmouth in the same class, but Ed attended for just one year and then transferred to the University of Colorado. (George graduated from Dartmouth and he has been an active alumnus for more than 60 years.) After college Ed served in the U.S. Navy at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. He then returned to Hinsdale, Illinois, and his multi-dimensional skills led to the founding and growth of the Mallard Press of Oakbrook, Illinois. Ed and his wife, Nancy, sold their business and retired to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1996. Together they enjoyed traveling, boating and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife; brother George; children Scott, John, Virginia and Charles; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephew Ed Hibben ’81; nieces Heidi (Hibben) Russell ’84 and Eliza Hibben Royal, Tu’91; cousin Theron Chapman ’56; and grandnephew Henry Russell ’15. He was predeceased by cousin Samuel Hibben ’51.
