Michael Lewis Kaiser ’73
Michael Lewis Kaiser ’73 died June 27 in Mesa, Arizona, after a year-long period of illness following an accident in which Mike was struck by a car while crossing a street on his mobility scooter. Mike was a native of Hanover and graduated from Hanover High School. At Dartmouth he majored in music, studied two terms in Vienna, Austria, and was a member of the Glee Club. After Dartmouth Mike earned a master’s in music education at the University of New Hampshire in 1975, and taught music for several years in New England schools. He later transitioned into a second career as a programmer-analyst for Digital Electronics Corp. He retired to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1997, where he joined the Arizona State University Choral Union, making numerous European tours. Mike was a member of the Central United Methodist Church of Phoenix, singing in groups and also teaching music to a Sunday school class of developmentally disabled adults. He was also assistant director of the junior choir at the Grace United Methodist Church in Mesa. Mike was active in multiple sclerosis support groups in Phoenix and Mesa. He is survived by his wife, Marietta, brother David and sisters Carol Jo and Robin Kaiser Gish ’83. Mike’s first wife, Marilyn, predeceased him.
