Jeremy Richard Waldron ’43
Jeremy Richard Waldron ’43 died November 21, 2012, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Judd graduated from Portsmouth High School. At Dartmouth he was a member of Theta Chi and Green Key, managed the band and majored in topical II. During the war he served in the U.S Army’s 45th Infantry “Thunderbird” Division, intelligence and reconnaissance unit, and fought in Italy, France and Germany. He was wounded at Anzio and received both a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Judd was present at the liberation of Dachau. He was granted an early discharge and, as he put it, “had a chance to beat most of the Phi Betes back to Harvard Law School.” In 1948, after Harvard, he joined his father’s law firm, where he remained until his retirement in 1995. During those years he chaired the New Hampshire Junior Bar Association and was president of the Rockingham County Bar Association. Judd was a key proponent of the historic restoration project, Strawberry Banke, designed to preserve the charm and character of Portsmouth historic buildings. An avid golfer, he also served on many professional boards, was active with the Republican Party and was a member of the Portsmouth Rotary Club, which honored him with its Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Ever loyal to Dartmouth, Judd at various times served on the class executive committee and as a regional agent, assistant head agent and fraternity/sorority agent. Judd is survived by his wife, Joan, daughter Kimberly and her husband, Jonathan, and granddaughter McKenzie.
