Richard Fowler ’54

Richard Fowler ’54 passed away on May 10 in Piermont, New Hampshire. Dick came to Dartmouth from Hebron Academy. At Dartmouth he majored In English and was a member of the Dragon, Dartmouth Outing Club and Bait & Bullet. He was a brother of Theta Delta Chi. Dick served in the Air Force, finishing his tour of duty as a captain in 1957. After discharge from the service he returned to Hanover, joining the Dartmouth Co-operative Society, which was a family business, expanding the Co-op to include a college shop, men’s clothing and sporting goods. Dick was a member of the Hanover Rotary Club for more than 50 years. He also served on the Hanover finance committee and was a director of the Dartmouth Savings Bank, director of Universal Tool Co. and a director of the Hanover Improvement Society. Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his daughters Ann, Joan and Lucy.
