Richard Carl Cimma ’73


Richard Carl Cimma ’73 died December 16, 2012, at Albany (New York) Medical Center after a brief illness. Rich was a native of Agawam, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Agawam High School as a National Merit finalist. At Dartmouth he majored in biology and psychology and as a senior was a teaching assistant in the psychology department. Rich’s community service included tutoring disadvantaged youth through the Dartmouth Christian Union. After Dartmouth he attended Albany Medical College, where he did a residency in pediatrics after receiving an M.D. Rich started his own practice, Pondview Pediatrics, in Castleton-on-Hudson, New York, where he worked for 32 years. He was an avid gardener at his home in East Greenbush, New York, and enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities. Rich is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joanne, daughter Carrie and son Gregory. Donations in Rich’s memory may be made to either the capital campaign of the Church of St. Mary, 163 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY 12144, or the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center, 37 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
