Franklin T.E. Tomlinson ’41


Franklin T.E. Tomlinson ’41 died on January 6 in Vero Beach, Florida. Franklin had an outstanding World War II military record in the Air Corps. He was assigned to the B-24 “Liberator” unit, becoming squadron commander of the 454 Group. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and Air Medal with Clusters, Commendation Medal, American Campaign, American Defense Medal, European Campaign and the World War II Victory Medal. During his appointment as military attaché to Denmark, he was knighted as a knight of Dannebrog for saving the life of King Christian X of Denmark and the royal family. He retired as colonel in 1960, when he became a stockbroker with Dean Witter. Franklin was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, and is survived by his daughter Lynn, son Robert, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
