Thomas J. Pollard ’88
Thomas J. Pollard ’88 died on October 27, 2012. Born in Boston on March 10, 1966, he was a lifelong resident of Marblehead, Massachusetts. Tom graduated from St. John’s Prep in 1984. At Dartmouth he was active in football and student government and a member of Beta Theta Pi. Tom majored in history and received his bachelor’s in June of 1988. Tom earned two master’s degrees, one in business administration from Emory in 1993 and one in industrial and labor relations from Cornell in 1999. Tom worked as a federal mediator and for the National Labor Relations Board, General Electric and Capital One. Tom was a volunteer firefighter, avid hunter, Yosemite park ranger, hospital volunteer, boater and devoted dog owner. Dartmouth classmates remember Tom for his sense of humor, willingness to lend you his motorcycle and ability to listen when you needed somebody to talk with. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by many. Tom was predeceased by his father, James Pollard, M.D., in January of this year. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Pollard, two brothers and their spouses, a nephew and three nieces. Tom was a devoted son of Dartmouth who served in many fundraising roles for the College, including four years as head agent and a member of the 20th-reunion giving committee.
