Robert John Kirkpatrick III ’54

Robert John Kirkpatrick III ’54 passed away on September 12, 2012, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Kirk came to Dartmouth from the Haverford School. At Dartmouth he majored in English and was a brother of Delta Upsilon. After Dartmouth he worked at Scott Paper and then went to officer candidates school with the Marines and then to flight school, thereafter spending four years flying in California and Japan and then serving as a captain in the reserves. After leaving the service in 1959 Kirk joined Merrill Lynch in Philadelphia, retiring as a senior vice president in 1993 for health reasons. He was a member of the Savoy Opera Co., Merion Cricket Club, the Union League and several a cappella singing groups. He also served on the board of the Harriton Association. Kirk served the class as a member of the class executive committee and as a class agent. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and children Scott, Bruce and Libby.
