C. Bayard Johnson Jr. ’54


C. Bayard Johnson Jr. ’54 passed away on July 9, 2012. Bayard came to Dartmouth from Grosse Pointe (Michigan) High School. At Dartmouth he majored in history and was a brother of Beta Theta Pi. Bayard was captain of the 1953-54 football team, member of Palaeopitus, Undergraduate Council, Interfraternity Council, Green Key and Sphinx. Following Dartmouth he received his M.B.A. from Harvard in 1957. Thereafter Bayard worked at TRW in Cleveland and Warren, Ohio, and Denver, concentrating on financial planning and acquisitions. In 1972 he moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, working at Copperweld Corp. and Pittsburgh Testing Lab and as a consultant for small businesses. Bayard is survived by his wife, Jane, and children Martha ’83, Camilla, Gail ’86 and Bayard.
