William Allen Schmitt ’45

William Allen Schmitt ’45 died on March 27, 2012. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 10, 1923, and came to Dartmouth from Washburn High in Minneapolis. At Dartmouth he was a member of Beta Theta Pi and he worked on The Dartmouth. He graduated from Tuck School and went into investment banking briefly before joining Wisconsin Tractor and Equipment Co. in sales from 1947 to 1964. In 1967 he was president of Midwest Beach Inc., and moved from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Sarasota, Florida. He was married to Patricia Westberg, who survives him with son William and four grandchildren.
