Nelson C. Brown ’51
Nelson C. Brown ’51 died in West Chester, Pennsylvania, on August 30, 2011. His academic background in clinical psychology underpinned a lifetime of empathy, concern for others and active engagement with the needs and interests of people in many different settings. Nelson was a member of Zeta Psi and a psychology major at Dartmouth. Following graduation he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, then earned a master’s in clinical psychology at the University of New Hampshire. He spent his entire working life at Bell Atlantic, from which he retired as assistant secretary. In retirement he was an active volunteer at Paoli Memorial Hospital and Chester County Hospital. Other passions included competitive bridge, bicycling and amateur theater, both on stage and as president of a local theater company. Nelson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peg, one child and four grandchildren. A second child predeceased him.
